Here’s another small study from my recent trip to Zion NP. This is actually from the Kolob Canyons section of the park. A trail runs 3 miles along a delightful creek, ending in a spectacular red rock grotto. But that’s the subject of some future paintings!
Because of the dense foliage, I decided to start with an under-painting of hard pastels washed with mineral spirits.
